● What is your favorite food? What is the difference between a meal and a feast?

● Why does Jesus instruct the disciples to take some time to rest?
● What does Jesus’ reaction to the crowds tell you about His character and
mission? Did it surprise you that Jesus’ compassion for the people was first
displayed through teaching them?
● Consider the details and descriptions Mark provides in this passage - setting,
how the people are seated, adjectives, etc. What connections can be made to
stories in the Old Testament?

● Why do you think Jesus provided more food than was needed, even to the point
that the disciples gathered leftovers? What lesson is Jesus teaching his
disciples? How do we still need to learn this in the Church today?
● Sometimes people’s ‘felt needs’ are different from their real needs. In sharing the
gospel with others, how can we get beyond people’s ‘felt needs’ to their real
needs?
